Where is the carburetor?
Through the carburetor, a mixture is fed into the cylindersair with fuel. From here it can be concluded that the carburetor is located between the gasoline pump and the cylinder block. Where exactly - depends on the brand of the car. For example, in the VAZ-2106 carburetor is under the air filter to the right of the cylinder block, if you look in the direction of the car. In newer models, as a rule, an injector is used instead of a carburetor.
Where is the carburetor in the engine
The internal combustion engine receives energywhen burning strictly metered doses of fuel in cylinders. In a four-stroke engine in four cylinders, the ignition of fuel takes place in turn. For combustion, oxygen is needed, so the cylinders do not receive clean fuel, but its mixture with air, which is formed in the carburetor.
In the cylinder block, ignition of each servingmixture should occur at regular intervals, and at the time when the piston in the cylinders is in its lower position. If these conditions are not met:
- engine power drops,
- the engine starts to work unevenly,
- the machine stalls or bites,
- the amount of carbon dioxide in the exhaust increases.
The moment of ignition of the mixture depends on the relationshipfuel and air in the cylinder, which is formed in the carburetor. Adjusting the carburetor achieve the desired ratio by experiment. Of course, the carburetor is regulated at the factory, but the time of ignition also depends on the state of the atmosphere: temperature, humidity, altitude above sea level. Therefore, from time to time, you have to deal with regulation everything, for which you need to understand the principle of the carburetor.
How the carburettor works
The air flow to the carburetor is fed through an air filter, the amount of air is regulated by the gas pedal. Every time you press the gas, more air gets into the carburetor.
Fuel in the carburetor comes through one, twoor, at most, three special sockets. Each nest is responsible for its power: small revolutions (idling), high revs and, in rare cases, medium.
In the nest are inserted needles that look like smallcogs with pointed ends. Needles are inserted into the nests loosely: between the walls of the nest and the needle there is a gap through which fuel enters the carburetor. The farther into the nest the needle is inserted, the less gap remains and less fuel enters. Adjustment of the carburettor consists in selection of a correct backlash on corresponding turns.
Inside the carburetor casing is a needle of highrevolutions. It regulates the flow of air at all speeds, on it depends the overall performance of the engine, although mainly on its position depends on the fuel mixture for high revs.
Further, the needle of low speed oridle move. It is usually located inside the carburetor, and it regulates the amount of fuel coming in after the first needle. Without it, at low speeds, there will be too much fuel in the mixture. When the revolutions are increased, the needle is taken out of the nest, and as much fuel as the first needle measures.
