What is tonsillitis?
Tonsillitis is associated with tonsils - palatine tonsils. The disease is expressed in the inflammation of the tonsils.
Glands are part of the lymphoid pharyngeal ring, on thewhich accounts for the immune function. They take a direct part in protecting the upper respiratory tract from bacteria that can penetrate with inhaled air or act with food.
Long or frequentinflammatory processes on the tonsils lead to the fact that the bacteria that fall on them, are not rendered harmless. They accumulate, multiply; Immunity falls - tonsillitis occurs. Local hypothermia can also lead to tonsillitis.
What is it - acute tonsillitis? In another way the disease is called angina. Symptoms of acute tonsillitis:
- redness of the throat;
- pain when swallowing;
- temperature increase;
- general deterioration of health;
- purulent inflammation of the tonsils.
Tonsillitis tonsils are covered with pustules -locally or a continuous layer. For treatment of acute tonsillitis it is necessary to undergo examination of a doctor, take tests. As a therapy, antibacterial agents are prescribed. Possible additional treatment of folk remedies (gargles, inhalation, etc.).
Children under 1.5 years of age usually do not get sick with acutetonsillitis, since the lymphoid tissue of the tonsils is not yet fully formed. At the age of about 3 years, the tonsils begin to develop rapidly, and the likelihood of catching the infection increases significantly.
Tonsillitis can provoke other infectiousdiseases - adenoiditis, sinusitis. The cause may be difficulty nasal breathing - for example, because of the same sinusitis or polyps in the nose. Chronic tonsillitis is due to a general decrease in immunity. It happens, for example, with illiterate antibiotic treatment or attempts to bring down the temperature not exceeding 37.5.
What happens with chronic tonsillitis? Affected lymphoid tissue of the tonsils is replaced by a connective, purulent plugs appear. Palatine tonsils can increase in size - but this does not always happen.
To determine chronic tonsillitis can be on several symptoms:
- a slight increase in temperature - up to 37 - 37.5 degrees. Hyperemia may not subside for weeks;
- the appearance of curdled white suppurating plugs in the lacunae of the tonsils. Lacunas - channels inside the tonsils;
- Frequent acute tonsillitis (more than 2 times a year).
In tonsillitis, immunity decreases, which is fraught with the spread of bacteria and, as a consequence, other diseases - the heart, kidneys, back, etc. Because of the treatment is not worth it.
