What is a ban?
Ban is one of the ways to control the actions of Internet users. Banu subjected to users who violated the rules of an Internet resource. But what is ban? Let's understand.
Why give a ban?
On every Internet resource, where there is a possibility of commenting, there are certain rules. Usually with these user rulesread at the time of registration on the portal. It is assumed that he must read them and tick off his agreement with the "laws" established on the site. However, for the most part, it's too lazy to read to users, and therefore they simply tick off without reading this instruction, and so in many cases, violations of rules are unintentional.
However, if the user has violated the rule, the administration either issues a warning to it, or sends it to the ban, i.e., restricts the user access to some or all of the site's capabilities. For more information, see How to Give a Ban.
Types of Ban
Ban can be either temporary or permanent. To which of them to expose the user, the administration decides. Most often, the user first receivesTemporary ban, but with repeated violations it is blocked on a permanent basis.
As we already mentioned, ban is a restrictionaccess to certain possibilities, in this sense the ban can be partial and complete. If a user "earns" a partial ban, they can, for example, forbid leaving comments, in the case of getting a full ban, the user generally loses access to the resource.
Advantages and disadvantages of the ban
Advantage of the ban is obvious - screening from the resource socalled trolls and spammers, and in addition, other not entirely adequate personalities. Also, with the help of a ban, the resource can screen out users who have an opinion that is not acceptable to the resource policy.
The disadvantage of the ban is that in the banlist - the list of blocked users - often only the user account is specified. This means that the user sent to the ban can register a new account and again gain access to the site. Sometimes, the banlist also includes IP, but again, if you take a device with a different IP, the user will easily return access.
