How to grow a nut from a nut?
At home, many plant nuts, because they are unpretentious in care and give a rich harvest. To not buy seedlings, you can grow a nut from a nut. Consider how to do it correctly.
Autumn planting of walnut
It is best to make a nut in autumn. This time is most beneficial. Use only fresh nuts with a whole egg shell this year. If you take last year's fruits, then the probability of their emergence will be minimal. Whereas nuts that were collected 2-3 years ago will not germinate at all.
The planting of the walnut must be carried out on a site where there are no acidic soils. Excellent for them suitable slightly alkaline soils. Having determined the necessary place for planting, proceed as follows:
- Dug up the earth on the spade bayonet.
- Make a small trench depth of 8-10 cm.
- Put the nuts on the rib in it and fill it with soil.
- Watering is not necessary, during the winter, moisture will be formed naturally, but mulching is necessary.
- Fill the beds of the nut with dry grass, sawdust and fallen leaves (should be a layer of about 10-20 cm).
- In spring, mulch will feed nuts, which will prevent loss of moisture.
- They will sprout as the soil warms up. This takes from 10 to 30 days, in some cases shoots can only go the next year.
Far from always succeeding in planting a nutin the fall. Planting a nut in the ground in this case no longer makes sense, since in frozen ground it will simply rot. It remains only to wait for the beginning of spring. But by this time it is necessary to prepare nuts for planting. To do this, you can use stratification or soaking.
First of all, soak the nuts in the water. Place them in a container of water for 2-3 days. Be sure to change the liquid daily, make sure it is at room temperature.
The next stage is the preparation of the substrate. Take wooden boxes or metal pans, on the bottom of which there are small holes. Then fill a layer of wet calcined river sand or sawdust. In it, put the nuts on the edge and pour the substrate.
Keep the container with nuts in a room wherethere is a temperature of +3 .. + 7С. If necessary, spend 1-2 times a month moisturizing them. But make sure that the substrate does not become too moist, otherwise by the spring the nuts will rot.
When there are sprouts, you need to put the container inwarmer room. Plant them in the open ground can be, when the spring frosts pass. The soil for nuts must be mulched with sawdust, which will prevent the appearance of burns on the sprouts. As a fertilizer for them is best suited ash. It is poured into the wells every 4-6 weeks.
First, during 30 days it is necessary to store nuts at a temperature of +1 .. + 5С. Then they are soaked. It is best to start it 1-1.5 months before the proposed landing in the ground.
For soaking it is recommended to take a shallowwide dishes. It is laid out in one layer of nuts, and then poured them with water and left for a while. When their leaves part and push through the root, the nuts need to be placed in the germination vessel. Here, you can also use dishes with holes or wooden boxes, where you need to pour sawdust or sand. Keep the nuts for germination in a room at a temperature of +25 .. + 28C. When they have roots in a length of 5-7 cm, they are transferred to a room with a temperature of +3 .. + 5C and there they are held before landing in the ground.
Deepen nuts after soaking and germinatingit is best to 5-7 cm before they are planted in the holes should moisten the soil and put a little fertilizer in it. On top of the sprouted nut sprinkled with soil and sawdust. After this, it remains only to ensure that the shoots are always moistened. From time to time, it will also be necessary to loosen the soil, surrender it and weed the weeds.
Note that the fruit tree will not start immediately. In early ripening varieties, nuts appear only after 3-4 years. In other cases, the collection of fruits can be done only for 5-8 years.
