How to build a barn?
Watch the video
The barn can be used for various purposes: and as a room for storing tools and various utensils, and as a workshop, and for breeding birds and animals. Accordingly, you can build sheds in different ways: for example, with or without a foundation, with different types of roofs (one-pitched, gable), insulated and not, with or without an attic. And how you can do all this, you will read in our article.
How to build a shed with a foundation
First of all, you need to choose the right place forbarn. If possible, it is best to choose a place near the house, as in the shed there will be all your inventory and, most likely, wood supplies, and running around for firewood in a blizzard or in the rain across the site is hardly pleasant. After selecting the place, we proceed to marking the site for the foundation. Strictly speaking, there is nothing difficult at this stage - the most important thing is to drive the pegs after marking so that the result is an even rectangle. Well, in the end, do not forget to stretch the rope along the pegs for better visual control.
We build a brick foundation
The best way to build a foundation for such aBuildings, like a barn, are, perhaps, brick posts. To do this, dig a few square pits with a depth of about half a meter, and their size should be such that there fit two rows of bricks. The number of columns will depend on the size of the shed. ColumnsThe foundation must be arranged along the length and widtha meter from each other. It is easy to calculate that for a 6 x 3 meter shed it will be necessary to dig 28 pits. However, you can do with a smaller number of columns, placing them far apart from each other. But then you have to allocate additional funds for sawn timber.
After the pits are ready, go to sleep downgravel and begin to lay bricks - of course, using a binder. In this case, the best mortar is ordinary cement. During work, do not forget to check the base level to ensure that the columns are at the same height and one axis, otherwise there will be a problem with the laying of the boards, and the floor in the barn will turn out to be uneven. However, the height of the columns can then be adjusted with the same cement mortar, adding it to the required level. The final stage here will be the waterproofing of the foundation: it is strongly recommended to treat the posts with waterproof mastic - so the building will last you much longer.
We build a skeleton and we heat a shed
Once the foundation is ready, you canproceed with the construction of the framework. To do this, take pre-prepared thick bars (10 x 10 cm thick) and stack them first along the perimeter, and then several cross bars along the width of the barn. Fastening is carried out with the help of metal angles, which are screwed with screws. After mounting the base, that is, the lower part of the frame, we proceed to the installation of vertical elements, the fixing of which is also carried out with the help of corners.
Have established - we check elements of a skeleton on a level and height. Now we createadditional ribs (besttriangular) in places where the vertical and horizontal bars are interconnected. To do this, we use specially cut bars for these needs and mount them with fasteners. After this, we stack and mount the rafters from above, from below flooring for the floor, and on the sides we create plank walls, while not forgetting to leave an opening for the door. The door is installed last. The barn is almost ready - it remains to insulate it and make a roof.
If we talk about insulation, then it needschoose according to the purpose of your building. After all, it's one thing when a shed is used for storage, and quite another, when it is planned to contain birds or animals. In the latter case, it is strongly recommended to pre-design the stove heating, and the oven must be made of bricks. As for the sheds for household needs, ordinary insulation with suitable thermal insulation materials is suitable here.
We build a shed with our own hands - the roof
Very often beginners haveThe question is: how to make a roof - one-sided or two-sided? Here you can give the reader the following recommendations. One-deck roof for a shed should be chosen in cases, if:
1) the barn immediately adjoins the house;
2) there is not enough money to buy materials to build a gable roof;
3) I want to make the roof faster and easier;
4) it is not planned to actively use the attic of the barn.
As for the height and steepness of the ramp, it can be any, so do it here as you prefer.
If we talk about gable roofs, then thisIdeal for those who want to build a loft over the barn. And here, again, the steepness of the skates is chosen, based on how the owner intends to exploit the attic space. Note that if the attic in the shed is planned to be used as an auxiliary room, special attention must be paid to the roof structure, since it must be able to withstand heavy loads.
Features of construction of a shed without a foundation
A shed without a foundation is the ideal solution if you need to quickly build a small utility room. It is small, because the barns are longmore than 3 meters is highly recommendedto establish already on the foundation. If the barn is small, it is possible to put the lower beams of the structure on pre-prepared bars or, for example, metal sheets. Otherwise, the technology is the same, except that the roof of the shed without a foundation is better to make a one-track, because it is not possible to actively use the attic in such a building (that is, walk and work there), but the floor and walls will still be strong enough, and such a structure will stand long enough.
