Construction of wooden houses, building materialsNovember 27, 2017
One of the main components of the concept - ecological housing or eco-house, is the concept of "environmentally friendly building materials". The market for building materials is full of various materials, some of which may be unsafe for health. The most suitable for the construction of green housing are natural materials:
- wood and wood products;
- materials from natural stone and clay.
But the use of natural materials should also be treated responsibly: for example, using wood, it is necessary to find out: from which region it is, check it for radiation background. It would seem, how can wood have a detrimental effect on the health of the developer?
Everything is very simple: at one time, working in the north of the Kiev region as a work maker, I repeatedly observed how some unscrupulous businessmen made deforestation in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.Naturally, the wood from this forest had an increased background radiation, with corresponding negative consequences for developers. The situation is similar with materials from granite. Everyone knows that granite rocks have a natural background radiation and usually it does not exceed acceptable standards, but there are exceptions too. For example, products from granite of the Tokovsky pit in the Dnipropetrovsk region (Ukraine) have an increased radiation background. Crushed stone from this granite can be used only for the construction of roads and not for the construction of housing and industrial buildings.
I would like to mention the “environmental merit” of such an effective and inexpensive material for erecting walls as adobe, or, as it is called in Ukraine, lamp lamps. It is a self-made blocks of size 200x200x400, made of clay and chopped straw or other filler from vegetable dried material.
The only drawback of this material is a small strength and rather high labor intensity in the manufacture. However, from the point of view of bioecological, this material has no equal. And for low-rise buildings, when using the frame method of construction, light bulbs for filling wall structures are simply superb and inexpensive material.
Still, Soviet statistics stated the fact that on cattle farms built of adobe (lampha), the yield of cows is 25-30% higher than on similar structures built of brick or reinforced concrete structures.
The use of wooden structures in the construction of wooden houses is also very effective, reliable and safe for health. Wooden structures, with appropriate processing, for strength and heat resistance are often superior to metal and concrete products. Thus, natural materials in construction are almost always the most acceptable for healthy and safe housing.
